I am supposed to renew this year by September. If I renew before the June implementation, do I still have to get the units? This is for Professional Teacher. In the past I just renewed my license without takunh any units. Thank you.

Good day Ma’am Vivian. The full implementation of CPD will actually be as early as March 2017 so it would be advisable for you to renew your license as early as February this year so you won’t be covered by the first full implementation of CPD Act.

Good afternoon. Good see your blog and post. Just wanna confirm, talaga po pwede at ina-accept naman ng PRC (main or any satellite?) ang application for renewal ahead of time, Sept. 2017 din po sakin eh.

          February 10, 2017 at 12:33 pm

          February 19, 2017 at 8:31 am

Good day po Ma’am, usually (based on experience) pag more than a year pa bago ang expiration ng inyong license ay di po inaallow ng online renewal system ang setting ng appointment. I could be wrong din po pero yan ang naexperience ng ilan sa aking mga kaibigan. Your best option po is to personally visit the PRC office and try to renew through the manual processing po which is mabilis na rin naman po as compared before.

Yes Sir, but as far as I know po, you can only use your units from your MA or doctor’s degree ONLY ONCE during the compliance period. But let’s wait for the IRR of the CPD Act which should be released this coming March.

I don’t think that is feasible for OFWs like me as first of, we have different programs all over the world and another things is, we don’t wanna have a vacation just to attend a seminar to complete 120units? That’s absurd!

  24. Cindy

    February 5, 2017 at 5:37 pm

What abt us OFW? We earned a CME here in compliance to our license here in abroad. Can the PRC validate this in equivalent to CPD. Most of us doesnt stay long during our vacation in the Philippines, if PRC demands us to earned CPD units just to renew our phil.license

    • TPS

      February 8, 2017 at 7:53 am

Jullian, it has been in place back in the ’90s and was cancelled soon after. With constant influx of new information, I think it is a good idea to keep the skills of our professionals up to date and requiring CPE units would compel them to keep up.

  33. Angelie

    February 7, 2017 at 2:29 am

  45. Joseph-Civil Engr

    February 8, 2017 at 9:36 pm

8k for 3 days.

Uo nga nman, unfair tsaka paano yung school nurses??

    February 19, 2017 at 4:53 am

I agree. The professionals especially in the government service are already required to have continuous education and then PRC decided agreed to have this new scheme. Who will scrutinize or evaluate the certificates to be presented? If the PRC office won’t have dedicated units for these, then obviously, this will just be an avenue for another means of corruption.

  49. Sheyrl

    February 21, 2017 at 10:26 am

Earning 45 CU is quite hard especially for us who are not fully supported by the employer. Paano naman ang mga empleyado na hindi nman basta2 pinapadala s mga seminars, least avenue or chance to be speakers (prosimity reasons?), baka nman considerable na ang 1-3 seminars a year. At least we keep on track with our profession’s trend.

What will happen if we were not be able to complete CPD points prior expiration of our Professional Cards?

    • Omaru

      February 21, 2017 at 12:59 pm

Good day Ma’am Sheyrl. With regards to your question, that remains to be seen po upon the release of the Implementing Rules and Guidelines of the CPD Act this coming March po.

    • Omaru

      March 12, 2017 at 9:55 am

Good day Sir RJ. Yes, as far as I know, you can use that ONCE for the compliance period but after using your units, you need to earn another number of units required for your profession on your next renewal. For a more comprehensive guide about CPD, please wait until the PRC releases the Implementing Rules and Regulations for CPD. Thank you.

CPD Units for OFWs and Other Filipinos Abroad

Since I have written the article on How to Earn CPD Units for PRC License Renewal, I have received countless messages and comments regarding the CPD Units for OFWs and Other Filipinos Abroad. With that, I personally went to PRC Office and asked them about this matter. Here are their answers on how OFWs and other Filipinos abroad can earn CPD units.

CPD Units for OFWs and Other Filipinos Abroad

According to PRC, Filipino professionals working or living abroad can still earn CPD units through the following:

  1. PROFESSIONAL TRACK (Training offered by accredited CPD Providers, Face to Face or Online)
  2. ACADEMIC TRACK (Professionals who took master’s degree and doctorate degree can use their earned academic units for license renewal although their units shall only be credited once during the compliance period.)
  3. SELF-DIRECTED (Training Offered by Non-Accredited CPD Providers, Face to Face or Online)
  4. Such other activities to be recommended by the CPD Council and approved by the Board and the Commission

Below is the matrix of activities which will serve as your guide for crediting CPD units.

4.  SUCH OTHER ACTIVITIES TO BE RECOMMENDED BY THE CPD COUNCIL AND APPROVED BY THE BOARD AND THE COMMISSION

Question: Are my trainings and seminars here in abroad can be credited?

Answer: As long as the school/institution where you have undergone your training is an accredited CPD provider, then that should be credited as CPD units. This is just my assumption, let’s still wait for the Implementing Rules and Guidelines of CPD to be published.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

The Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) regarding CPD is still being crafted.

LET Passers Can Now Affix Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) to Their Names

LET passers can now affix Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT) to their names. This is according to a Facebook post by Mangaldan, Pangasinan municipal councilor Aldrin Soriano.

“Board for Professional Teachers of the Professional Regulation Commission Vice President Dr. Paz Lucido said during the oathtaking ceremony of new professional teachers earlier today that the Board passed a resolution that the honorary title of professional teachers is now Licensed Professional Teachers or LPT. They can append such title after their name. Dr. Lucido meanwhile reminded that persons who have not passed the licensure examination for teachers but have used such title, shall be charged with a penalty.”

Whether you are a fresh LET passer or one who passed the exam previously, you can now proudly write your name with its corresponding professional designation as – Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT). Cheers to that!

Licensed Professional Teacher (LPT)

Have you ever wondered why doctors, nurses, and even accountants have their respective professional designations affixed to their names such as MD, RN, CPA? Well, me too. There were times when I and my friends who are also LET passers talked about the proper initials to be added on our names should the PRC release a resolution regarding this matter. Professional Teacher (PT)? Certified Public Teacher (CPT)? Think no more!
